Shikoume plums are harvested in early summer in Wakayama, Japan. They are small and plump, with a sweet flavor and pink flesh, earning their name as noble and magnificent empress plums. Compared to Nankoume plums, Shikoume plums have an additional hint of apple and floral aroma. They are produced annually in May, with a duration of three to four weeks, creating a unique vintage each year. The liqueur is crafted by steeping botanical plants such as juniper berries, citrus peels, and lemon. The first sip carries a slight bitterness, but it is quickly enveloped by a lingering sweetness, creating a harmonious blend of sweet, sour, and bitter flavors that lasts only a few seconds, yet offers a remarkably rich mouthfeel.
